August President's Report
Welcome to August. The past month has been very hot and humid. Most days the temperature was in the mid 90’s with a heat index over 100. Some days we had heat advisories. You do not do much outside those days.
In my last article I stated that on June 23rd we would be checking the park for water leaks. It was a very successful day, and a long day. We started at 7:30 AM and went late in the day. First, I would like to thank those residents who helped Pam and me that day: Jerry DeJong, Jim Dunlap, Bob Dube, and Hector, our maintenance supervisor. Also a big thank you to our residents for their cooperation. We went with people from Sluth to each home in Golf Lakes and the pool, fitness center, and clubhouse.
The good news: we do not have any major water leaks in our main water lines; just a few small leaks which our maintenance staff has repaired. The water leaks are in or under homes. This could be a leaking toilet, faucet(s) leaking, or water lines under the home. These are the responsibility of the home owner. You will be notified. The presence of a yellow ribbon on your waterline indicates you have a leak somewhere in or under your home. These leaks must be repaired as soon as possible.
As a reminder, if you are going to be gone 1 week or more, you must turn your water off where it comes into your home. This is a new rule that has been adopted.
Sometime in mid August the palm trees will be trimmed. We do not have a specific date.
So far this summer we have not had as much rain as in the past few summers. While everything is still green, we welcome rain whenever!
Our 4th of July Picnic was held on July 4th in the clubhouse in air conditioned comfort. About 120 people attended and enjoyed pulled pork sandwiches, slaw, chips, cupcake, and drinks. And we had card bingo with prizes. As always, lots of talk and laughter.
See you when you return.
