Summer has arrived, we have been fortunate to have had some nice weather and some rain. The last 2 months have been quite different for Golf Lakes. Covid 19 has made it hard to continue business as usual. I know it has been hard for all our residents, but we are so happy that there has been no reports of any cases involving our residents and staff at the time that I am writing this article.
Last week the Board of Directors voted to open all outside recreation facilities with restrictions. Residents will be required to sign a waiver prior to using any of these facilities. The facilities are only opened for residents and no guests will be allowed. These facilities must be used at YOUR OWN RISK and personal sanitation is the responsibility of the resident. Social distancing must always be used. If these restrictions are not complied with by residents then the facilities can be closed again.
Hurricane season begins this month. If the park is under a mandatory evacuation order, the clubhouse will be locked and unavailable to residents. We strongly encourage all summer residents to plan and make arrangements for a safe place to go in preparation of hurricanes.
As of June 1st this rule applies: All residents who will be away for more than 7 days during official hurricane season (June 1st to November 30th) must stow away all outdoor objects prior to leaving. This includes, but not limited to flowerpots, grills, decorative statues, outdoor furniture, garbage cans, bicycles, and rain barrels if not stored properly or anchored permanently all such items will be removed. If an expense is incurred, it will be charged to the owner.
Water shut off is mandatory when you leave also. If the Association needs to shut off your water, they are not responsible for any damage like the hot water heater.
Trash is picked up Tuesday and Friday, during the summer the time your trash is picked up my vary. Please use clear bags for yard trash so that yard trash does not mistakenly get placed in the compactor. And please limit all trash bags to 40 pounds.
The hours for Gate Street gate to be open are 7a.m. to 6 p.m. The other two gates will be closed 24/7. You may still exit the park through these gates with your clicker, but you will not be able to get in them at all.
Summer projects will begin this month. A new compactor has been ordered and should be installed this month. All the electronics for the main gate will be relocated in the building at Gate Street. The interior of the fitness center will be painted. The pickleball courts will be resurfaced.
Other projects that will be done this summer are: paving of clubhouse parking lot, north parking lot and 5th street from 53rd entrance to 49th Avenue Drive. Sanitary sewer lines relined. Electrical backboard and poles replaced throughout the park. All residents will be notified if any of these projects affect their services.
We look forward to the summer showers that will increase our water table. Until then, please continue to do your part to conserve water. Please be sure to water only on your day. Sprinklers and soaker hoses are not allowed with the only exception being lawns with new sod that have previously contacted me for approval. All watering must be done by hand.
RULE REMINDER: Guests: 2. Any guest occupying a unit in the owner’s absence must register at the office. The resident is responsible for acquainting their guest with Park rules and regulations.
