President's Report May 2021 - Mark Hooker

As I write this letter form May it is early April, warm and sunny with a light breeze. We are forecast to have rain this weekend which we need very much. Many of our winter residents have gone North for the summer, and it is quiet in Golf Lakes. By the end of May our community population will be much lower and mostly year-round residents. It will provide a pleasant break from all the hustle and bustle of the winter schedule.

Summer jobs will be starting. There will be fewer jobs this year since we are not going to be paving. That job will begin again next year. The area where the paddle wheel was should be completed and ready for use. Our Manager, Pam McFarland, is obtaining bids for that work now. When it is completed, it will be a welcome and usable addition to our park.

Your Board of Directors is hoping to have the pandemic restrictions changed if not completely gone by fall. We are looking forward to having Saturday Social Hour, meetings in the Clubhouse Hall, and allow guests to use our amenities. All the committees are working on recommendations now (early April) and your Board of Directors will be reviewing all of them and making decisions soon. We are just as anxious to get back to “normal” as all of you.

For those residents leaving for their Northern homes, have a safe trip home, enjoy your summer, and stay healthy. My wife and I look forward to your return in the fall.
