June Presidents Report - Mark Hooker

Updated: Jun 25, 2019

As I write this article our weather has become very warm and muggy. It is 93 degrees, not much rain, and Golf Lakes is quiet.

The paving that was scheduled for this summer is complete. On June 23rd we will be checking for water leaks in Golf Lakes. Start time is 7:30 AM and it will take 8 to 12 hours to complete. At some time during the day all water will be turned off in the park. If you are still here, please plan to leave that day. If you must stay, please run water in containers for your use. Hopefully all the leaks will be found and we can get them fixed.

The Spectrum contract was effective May 1st. You will receive a letter from Golf Lakes letting you know what the increase will be in your quarterly maintenance fees due for the remainder of this year. This increase begins with the July 1st payment. If you had internet with Spectrum, your monthly bill will lower because you will not be paying for internet to Spectrum.

During June Pam and I will be checking all the homes to make sure that all items that could blow away in a storm are put away. If they are not, you will receive a letter asking you to have someone secure those items. If the maintenance staff has to store your items, you may receive a bill from Golf Lakes.

I hope there are no strong storms this summer. Nancy and I wish you all a great summer. See you when you return.

EMOTIONAL SUPPORT ANIMALS AND YOUR FLORIDA LEGISLATURE

The FLAROC Board of Directors and lobbying firm are monitoring current legislation concerning fraudulent use of emotional-support animal provisions.

The legislation would make it a misdemeanor crime to fraudulently obtain or falsify documentation related to the use of an emotional support animal. Individuals attesting to the need for an emotional support animal would be required to show that they were not hired for the sole purpose of providing documentation of the need of an emotional=support animal.

The house bill, HB721, can be viewed at www.myfloridahouse.gov and the senate bill, SB1128, can be read at www.flsenate.gov. We urge you to read these bills and let your Florida legislators know your position.

The Florida legislative session moves quickly and usually end in May. If you want your voice heard, don’t wait. Contact your State Senator and/or your State Representative.
