Presidents report March 2021 - Mark Hooker

Welcome to March.

Our new Board members have been selected. Gerry Barnicle joins returning Directors George White and Judy Keller to your Board as Directors for the next 3 years. Gerry is new to our Board and I am sure he will make a good member. Judy and George will continue the good work they have been doing. This has been an especially challenging year and we all look forward to a less challenging time ahead. Now we can get down to the business of the Park.

We have several important upcoming projects. They are the lining of 3 sanitary sewer lines in the area east from 5th Street to 7th Street between 49B and 49C, west from 5th Street to the wall between 49C and 49D, and west from 5th Street to the wall between 49B and 49C. We will also replace a total of 590 feet of the storm water drain line along the North side of 49th Avenue Drive East. These projects will be done in late March or early April before our wet season begins. Affected residents will be notified in advance. The projects are being done to remedy known problem areas.

This park utilizes volunteers to perform many tasks. Most of our committees need volunteers. If you are interested in contributing to the wellbeing, entertainment, and beautification of YOUR park, please consider volunteering. Contact me, any Board member, committee chairperson, or the office. Some of these committees will no longer exist if volunteers do not come forward. Remember the tasks these volunteers perform save you money in Maintenance Fees. Without volunteers some of the committees will cease to exist and/or we will have to pay someone. Volunteer today.

By the end of March some of our residents will be returning to their Northern home. Please prepare your property for your absence. Weeds grow amazingly fast in the summer and air conditioners can have problems and with our many heavy rains roofs can leak. Turn your water off at your main valve for your property. Consider leaving a key in the office in case of an emergency. Let the office know who to contact if needed. Consider having someone check your property periodically to be sure all is operating properly. These simple steps can be the difference in a minor or major problem for you. Safe travel to everyone.

My wife and I with you all Happy St. Patrick’s Day and do not forget to wear your Green on March 17th! We are hopeful that the fall or winter will see everyone here in our little bit of Paradise.

One Liner for March:

Congratulations America! 51 years ago, you stepped on the moon. Today you cannot even go to Canada.
