March is the month that many of our winter activities come to an end and some of our residents head to their northern homes for the summer. We hope everyone has had a good winter full of activities and friends and that everyone stays safe on your journeys.

The annual presentation by the Stage and Storage Committee,” The Night of Music,” is on March 2nd and 4th. The committee members and the cast have worked hard to prepare a good show for everyone and hope you enjoy their efforts. Tickets are free; however, they would like to have donations at the door. This is their only fund raiser.

March 19th is Pam McFarland’s Retirement Party. It begins at 1 PM and ends at 4 PM, with a short program at 2:30 PM. After 35 years of service to our park, Pam deserves our Thanks. The party is being held now so that all our residents can attend even though Pam is not retiring until the end of June.

The Board of Directors has hired Tracy Lang as our new park manager. She will be starting work on March 6, and will work with Pam until the end of June. The Board and Search Committee feel that she will be a good manager for Golf Lakes. When you meet Tracy, welcome her to Golf Lakes.

For anyone wishing to have alcoholic beverages at a function, please be aware of the following:

Permission must be sought by the event sponsor, group or committee in writing to the Board of Directors no later than 2 meetings (28 days) prior to the event. The following provisions must be followed if permission is granted:

  1. No sponsor, committee, or individual shall sell, provide or pour alcohol to any individuals. (NO POUR RULE).
  2. Individuals will provide their own alcohol to be consumed at the function. (BYOB).
  3. The event sponsor/requesting group shall have the responsibility to monitor the function for anti-social behavior.
  4. Drunken or offensive behavior shall not be tolerated.

I would like to give my Thanks to Connie Geth and Jerry DeJong for their time and service to the Board. Your new Board Officers are:

  • President – Mark Hooker
  • Vice President – George White
  • Secretary – Karla Blevins
  • Treasurer – Judy Keller

This will be a busy and interesting year working with our new manager.

For those residents leaving to go North for the summer, my wife and I wish you a safe trip home and have a great summer.
